Urban Bush Babes

Brooklyn-based identical twins Takenya and Cipriana Quann are known for their vintage store–salvaged ensembles. But it is their big, bold, sculptural updos that have set them apart from the borough’s hipster masses. They are referred to as the Urban Bush Babes, the name of the beauty-and-fashion website Cipriana cofounded after dropping out of the modeling world, where she was often pressured to change the texture of her hair. The move landed her videos for Gap and Cotton Incorporated, and she and Takenya (aka the electronic singer-songwriter TK Wonder) are the new international faces of the Swedish clothing and beauty label & Other Stories, launching in the U.S. this fall, and will appear in Gap’s holiday campaign.
