This Week’s Model: Meghan Collison
Meghan Collison, 21 (seen here backstage at Givenchy), isn't a classic beauty. But the dark-haired, strong-featured native of Edmonton, Canada has become a fashion world favorite just for that reason. Collison got her start...
You have a very different look compared to other girls in the industry, how has that affected your career? I realize I’m not a typical pretty face, but I have grown to appreciate that. I don’t think I would have achieved what I have if it wasn’t for being somewhat different. You have to find a way to stand out or else you’ll get lost.
What has been your career highlight so far? My Italian Vogue covers taken by Steven Meisel and a jigsaw puzzle was made from an image of me. That by far was one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me!
Who was your favorite model growing up? I liked Querelle Jansen because she was different and beautiful at the same time.
What are some of your hobbies? I can crochet, which I enjoy doing from time to time, but I almost always never finish what I start making.
Any hidden talents? I have double-jointed knees, so they bend further back then normal.
Tell us something that only a few people know about you. I live on the 13th floor in apartment 1313, but I’m not superstitious.
Models often say that dating is a nightmare. Do you agree? I already found the love of my life. He lives back home in Edmonton. Sometimes we have to go for months without seeing each other, but we make it work.
What do you think it takes to be a supermodel? I think you have to have a strong personality, a memorable face and heavy hitters in the industry backing you up.
