Three’s a Crowd

On Tuesday night, the Cinema Society and Revlon hosted a premiere of Paul Haggis’s new film “Third Person,” which centers on three interconnected relationships. Actresses Olivia Wilde, Loan Chabanol, and Moran Atias (who also co-produced the film) were on hand to discuss their roles. Wilde gushed about working with her co-star Liam Neeson, while model-turned-actress Chabanol thanked the cast and crew for their guidance. Atias, who went four months without bathing for her role as a Roman gypsy named Monica, admitted she preferred her character’s grungy look to red carpet glam. “I’m more like Monica,” she said with a laugh, though her flawless makeup and elegant Naeem Kahn gown made it difficult to believe. Introducing the film, Haggis took time to thank friends—including Capote director Bennett Miller—for coming out to view his “puzzle” of a film. “One of my favorite quotes from Camus is that ‘A guilty conscious needs to confess and a work of art is a confession,’” he said. “And while I cannot claim this is a work of art, it’s as close to a confession as you’ll ever get to see from me.”

At the after-party, held at Jimmy at the James Hotel, guests shared their takes on the cryptic plot while ogling and photographing (and Instagramming) the skyline view. And while most of the women teetered carefully around the rooftop pool’s edge, Orange Is the New Black star Tasha Jefferson did the opposite, dangling her feet contently in the water—a sure sign that summer in the city has arrived.
