Face Time with Solange Knowles

Wearing sunny yellow Christopher Kane separates (accessorized with metallic Acne Studios pumps), singer Solange Knowles almost eerily coordinated with Japanese watch label Q&Q’s candy-colored pieces at the US launch event on Thursday evening. But that wasn’t the only coincidence: “My mom is going to be hurt when I say this, but she named me after a watch,” Knowles, who deejayed a set that combined contemporary pop hits and classic hip hop, said with a smile. “Piaget is my middle name. It was a very new brand at the time [that I was born] and she just thought it sounded really pretty.”

Taking a break from her performance, the singer showed off her wrists, which were covered with a smattering of bracelets and a timepiece. “I’m really late on this whole ‘arm party’ thing,” she said, admitting that she has never bought a watch before. “I’m not as fashionable as people think.” Somehow, we think she was quite literally born into it.
