Selena Gomez Debuts Short Horror Movie With Petra Collins On Instagram
Selena Gomez loves to keep fans guessing. From her music videos to the projects she chooses, Gomez does things her own way and marks each video, song, and movie role with her own signature stamp. Her latest departure from the Disney genre? A short, eerie horror film with her friend and video director Petra Collins, called A Love Story.
Collins, who directed the “Fetish” and “Bad Liar” music videos, posted a video of Gomez to her Instagram, saying, “A Love Story dir by mee ? lil short with @selenagomez ? u can watch excerpts from it on IGTV on my profile⛓.” The video shows Gomez in a bathtub with what looks like a sliced-off face in the water with her; it moves from the water to her back and she even almost kisses it. In one brief clip, you can see more skin and body parts in the adjacent room. It is, to say the least, creepy.
The rest of the footage is available on Collins’s Instagram Stories; in it, Gomezgoes outside to where a human torso is hanging and caresses it lovingly. A human finger hangs from the ceiling in the house and she picks it up to put it in her mouth, eats icing off her legs with a knife, and has her hair played with by someone in a chair with a face full of mangled flesh and body parts. At one point, she wears white-out colored contacts to give her a ghostly gaze. Towards the end of the Stories, we see Gomez with an eyeball in her mouth. Like we said, creepy.
The movie appears to be debuting solely on IGTV, which is now available for iOS and Android. It’s also not a complete surprise; Collins told Vanity Fair she and Gomez wanted to make a horror movie. “I love The Exorcist and the things that come from inside you,” Petra told the mag. “The things that are a little more subtle, and things that you deal with from inwards, and I feel like it’s something Selena and I both love talking about…that topic is sort of dear to us.”
