Rodarte Spring 2015: Backstage Beauty
Makeup artist James Kaliardos and hair stylist Odile Gilbert break down the beauty look backstage at the Rodarte Spring 2015 runway show.
The look at Rodarte was all about the multiple brow piercings. Really, need we say more? Makeup artist James Kaliardos didn’t have much to add, especially when it came to revealing exactly how the seven or eight tiny hoops remained on nearly every models in the most believable way. “Sorry, it’s an industry secret,” he demurred. The rest of the face remained pretty natural, with sheer eyeshadow, a natural lip color, and one coat of mascara on upper lids. “Laura and Kate [Mulleavy] just wanted the girls to look cool,” said Kaliardos. Manicurist Tracylee created a surprising nail, wiping off navy polish in a way that gave it the dull, matted appearance of being washed away by the tide. Finally, hairstylist Odile Gilbert kept her brushes and curling irons packed away for this show and let the hair’s natural texture preside. “We wanted the models to look themselves, so we asked each girl how she wears her hair in real life,” smiled Gilbert. “This one has a middle parts, that one has a side parts. For once, they let them show their personality. And they’re so happy!”
