Think Pink Like Pyper America Smith
When W magazine spoke with model Pyper America Smith in October, the 18-year-old admitted to having pink hair fantasies, just like anyone her age in fashion would. She’d tried it once before, but it was only temporary. “It was just hair chalk that washes out, but I thought it was so much fun and would love to maybe color my hair one day,” she said. “Just not right now.” Why the wait? Being the sister of models and Insta-stars Lucky Blue Smith and Daisy Clementine, Pyper America’s platinum blonde hair was her family’s signature, and arguably claim to fame.
Well, now that it’s 2016, Pyper America is ready to be recognized beyond her roots, literally and figuratively speaking. With fashion week on the horizon, she’s sure to stand out on both the runway and in the streets. Pink is having a moment though, so she won’t be alone. Our November cover star, actress Jessica Chastain, demonstrated how to transform oneself with the trend and model Fernanda Ly was an early pioneer this past spring.
If you’re feeling inspired to try the trend too, see all of W‘s most memorable pink hair moments in the archives.
