Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Reportedly Planning a U.S. Tour
Looks like Meghan Markle is bringing Prince Harry back home for a bit. The newlyweds, who just finished up their first international tour in Ireland, are reportedly planning to take a trip to Markle’s native America sometime soon.
“They are so excited to head to the U.S.,” a “palace insider” (so take that with a grain of salt) tells Us Weekly. “Meghan is looking forward to introducing Harry to everything she loves about the U.S.”
There’s reportedly no set itinerary yet, but it’s likely that they’ll hit both coasts. “They are thinking New York, Washington, D.C., and California,” the source told Us. “They’re working to finalize locations and venues.” The source continues that the royal couple will likely visit San Francisco, where “they will meet with CEOs and female tech entrepreneurs to encourage their involvement in the industry,” and they’ll possibly take a trip to the Obama Foundation in Chicago or up north to Canada. “President and Mrs. Obama have been stalwart supporters,” says the insider. “The Canadian Foreign Office has heard about the tour and would love to have them stop there. This may very well become a North American tour.”
In addition to showing Prince Harry some of her favorite spots in America, there’s reportedly another, more important reason why the couple will be traveling stateside: “Meghan and Harry want to solidify ties between the U.K. and the U.S.,” the source said. “They want to highlight and foster these relationships.”
But before she and Harry board their westbound plane later this year, Meghan will apparently make the journey solo. “She’s planning a personal, unofficial trip this summer to see family and friends,” reveals another source. “She’ll go to New York, then L.A.” And according to the sources, the duchess is getting all her travel in before taking on her next big role: mother. Says a confidant, “Expect to hear the pitter-patter of a little prince or princess in 2019.”
Of course, this could all just be an elaborate educated guess, considering that it was pretty much inevitable that Markle and the Prince would make a joint visit to America at some point.
