Of Course Catherine Deneuve’s Daughter Can Pull Off a Gucci Men’s Suit
Chiara Mastroianni is the perfect mixture of her mother’s French effortlessness and her father’s Italian swagger.
Chiara Mastroianni, the daughter of French icon Catherine Deneuve and Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni, has been on camera since she was seven years old, when she acted alongside her mother in Us Two (À nous deux) in 1972. Now age 44, she’s grown to become a success in her own right, a front-row fixture and actress in films like Ready to Wear (1994), (co-starring her father), André Téchiné’s My Favorite Season (1993) (co-starring her mother), and doing voiceover for Persepolis (2007), where nepotism did not seem to play a part in her casting.
This year, Mastroianni’s long history with film has earned her the title of juror at the Venice International Film Festival, and her red carpet looks have caught our attention. At the premiere of The Light Between Oceans last week, she stepped out in a fringed blazer from Gucci’s Fall 2016 men’s collection, which she paired with Gucci loafers and a sequin scarf.
In addition to inheriting acting chops, Mastroianni clearly has style in her genes, and can often be found at Louis Vuitton shows with her mother. She also loves a Brioni suit and wore stunning Armani Privé gowns to both the Venice Film Festival, and at Cannes.
In sum, Mastroianni is the perfect mixture of her mother’s French effortlessness and her father’s Italian swagger — the golden combination for any fashion and film star.
