As a teenager, Patricia Underwood was mad for Marimekko, but she couldn’t afford the brand’s wares. “I admired them from afar, but now I’ll be extraclose to them—underneath them, in fact.” The milliner is referring to her new eight-piece hat collection for the Finnish design house. Done up in 10 classic prints, the sturdy cotton toppers—newsboys, buckets, and sun hats—go from petite to supersized. “Imagine a tiny bikini with the huge poppy-print one,” says Underwood, who has also collaborated with such designers as Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, and Perry Ellis. For head-to-toe print-aholics, Marimekko’s spring clothes will be offered in matching motifs (marimekko.com; hats from $185 to $450).
