It Trend, It Girl: Marie-Ange Casta
The model-actress Marie-Ange Casta, 22, wanted to be an art teacher when she was growing up in Paris and Lumio, Corsica. But then her genes kicked in (older sister Laetitia is also a model) and the fashion and beauty worlds came calling, with campaigns for Mango and Vichy. Now Casta has opened Citadella, a design gallery in Paris, with the art dealer Tao Kerefoff and Jean-Marie Tassy, who created the Corsican Calvi on the Rocks musical festival. Citadella features an uncanny mix of African tribal art and ’50s pieces by the likes of Charlotte Perriand. Casta’s fashion sense is also about combining seemingly disparate elements. She sticks to a uniform of white tees and J Brand jeans by day, but for a big night, she’ll pair a Martin Margiela dress with a Saint Laurent smoking jacket. “I like mixing masculine and feminine,” explains Casta, who looks every part the gallerina in this Joseph Altuzarra jacket and striped Belstaff skirt. “I like chic details more than extravagance.”
Sisterly Advice “Laetitia made herself—nobody gave her any guidance, and our family was not in the business. So we both agreed I should make my own mistakes in this industry.”
On Her Wish List “I love the work of Niki de Saint Phalle. Maybe one day I will have one of her ceramics.”
