Marc Jacobs Spring 2014

“This is the kind of girl who doesn’t mind looking a little sick,” said Francois Nars with a laugh as he explained the blush-less, brow-less and lipcolor-free look he created for Marc Jacobs. “Just a hint of teal on the inner eyelid and mascara. Tons of mascara.” Guido Palau matched the rebellious tone with bleached bowl wigs that looked like they had been chewed by rats. (The runway had a shipwreck theme going on so why not?) Palau in fact used a lot of different tools—”Scissors, razors… Anything we can find!”—to make the haphazard cuts. And not one to be left out of the fun, Jacobs created a special new nail polish shade for the occasion: Bark!, a chocolate brown, has the same deep intensity as his latest collection. We will all be able to get our hands on both next spring.
