Out of the Bag
When Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel arrived at the CFDA Awards on Monday night, they were wearing their own designs. And we’re not just talking about their bags. The duo, who took home the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design, walked the red carpet in Peter-Pan collar dresses and matching suede shoes, using the opportunity to announce that they are branching out into ready-to-wear and footwear. It’s confirmed that shoes will hit a selection of to-be-confirmed stores first, which makes sense given their success with accessories. The clothing, meanwhile, will play into their history with fashion. (Mansur studied textiles at Rhode Island School of Design, and Gavriel studied fashion and photography at University of the Arts Bremen, in Germany.) We’re guessing waiting won’t be a challenge for their fan base—as everything the Mansur Gavriel girls touch sells out in minutes.
