Mandy Moore Is Bringing Back the Hair Color From Her “Candy” Days
When it comes to most radical hair color transformations, new seasons are often to blame; blonde for summer, darker ombre in the fall, etc. But it wasn’t the changing wearther that prompted Mandy Moore to make her latest hair update. Instead, the actress is blaming her hit TV show, NBC’s This Is Us—or, more specifically, wrapping the second season of the series. On Instagram, Moore debuted a shoulder grazing lob with honey kissed golden blonde beachy waves—a far departure from her signature brunette hair both on-screen and off.
The new color recalls Moore’s early 2000s honey blonde hue from the The Princess Diaries days, back when Anne Hathaway was just any other up-and-coming actress and Erik von Detten was Disney’s foremost hottie. Alongside the photo, Moore wrote, “I’m slowly morphing into @streicherhair. Now if I could only master those “cool girl” waves all on my own. And yes, I wasted no time changing up my hair as sooooon as wrapped up the season on #thisisus. As you do…”. Moore’s hairstylist Ashley Streicher, was quick to follow in sharing Moore’s newly chopped textured lob with a subtle ombre golden brown layer by celebrity colorist Tracey Cunningham, to Instagram as well. “Someone’s got a new lewk ✂️ Loving Mandy’s fresh new #BLONDE by @traceycunningham1 fresh chop by me,” Streicher shared, posing next to Moore sporting matching messy beach waves.
As we see Hollywood stars begin to transition out of the dark hues of winter into various understated shades of honey golden blonde, Moore is the latest star to join the ever-growing list of actresses experimenting with this year’s new go-to shade. Taking a cue from actresses Jessica Biel and Daisy Ridley, who both recently ditched their brunette locks for warm, sun-kissed blonde hues, Moore proves that going platinum isn’t the only way to go blonde this year.
