Five Minutes With Liu Wen

Since she signed with Estée Lauder nearly three years ago, Liu Wen has become one of the world’s most sought after models. We caught up with her at the dinner Mac Cosmetics hosted for Prabal Gurung’s resort collection at Indochine last week.

What’s your favorite NYC restaurant (other than Indochine, of course): There’s one on 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th avenue. It’s real Szechuan style. Really spicy.

Do you have favorite TV shows? When I’m studying English I love to watch “Friends” or “Nikita.” “Friends” is always very funny, and the lead character in “Nikita” is beautiful, smart, and strong. I also watch some Asian dramas because they relax me when I’m very busy.

What’s on your ipod? I love Adele, Duffy, or Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine. Romantic music really stirs my soul. And, of course, I love Chinese music; it makes me feel closer to home.

When we met you didn’t have a boyfriend. Has that changed?? No, that has not changed! I’m still single.

Is that a Prabal design you’re wearing? Yes—I chose it because the color was summery. Ever since I first started modeling I’ve known Prabal. I’ve walked his show almost every season.

What’s your favorite Estée Lauder product? I’m not going to lie. I don’t use any makeup if I’m not doing work. Even if I’m going to a party, I’ll only wear lipstick. My favorite is Pure Colour Lipstick. I’m wearing Crystal Rose right now.
