Almost a century later a simple pair of denim dungarees are still an it girl essential.
Eighty years ago this fall, Levi’s introduced its first dungarees made just for women. And as progressive as they were—jeans simply weren’t considered acceptable for ladies back then—they caught on like wildfire, prompting Vogue in 1935 to declare them essential to any chic wardrobe. I’d still agree.
