Man About Town
Kevin Spacey had a busy holiday season. Just as he was wrapping the HBO film Recount, about the ballot controversy in the 2000 presidential election, he received an unexpected call on behalf of Al Gore, asking him to step in as a host of the Nobel Peace Prize concert in Norway; Tommy Lee Jones had just backed out. Two days after the show, Spacey was in New York to raise funds for London’s eminent theater company the Old Vic, where he is artistic director, at a dinner at the Lowell. Among Spacey’s plans is a series of transatlantic productions with director Sam Mendes, which will be performed at the Old Vic and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
