Kate Hudson Takes Valentino From Ballet To Boho
At a New York screening of Mother’s Day, there’s not a maternal detail in sight.
Who: Kate Hudson.
When: Thursday, April 28.
Where: The after party for a Cinema Society screening of Mother’s Day at Ladurée Soho in New York.
What: A pale pink Valentino Fall 2016 halter gown with geometric embellishments.
Why: Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli cited the ballet as a primary inspiration for the Fall 2016 collection, but on Hudson this look from the collection has a definite Bohemian vibe. The pale pink color, approaching nude, combined with the triangular accents, high-waisted silhouette, and open back all exude a quasi-’70s aura, albeit one with a bit more grace than your Woodstock stereotype. Her Anita Ko jewelry is minimalist, her nails match her gown, her makeup clean and understated; she foregoes the pink wool coat that the look accompanied on the runway, and Hudson benefits from the simplicity of the whole thing.
