Jennifer Lawrence Has a Finsta, and She’s Watching You
The 28-year-old actress confirmed that she does indeed have an Instagram—but uses it solely as “a voyeur.”
In the latest in her five-year partnership with Dior, Jennifer Lawrence is now the face of the house’s first major fragrance since 1999, Joy. That responsibility has so far included diving into a pool in a tulle gown and still miraculously maintaining her perfect lipstick. In typical Lawrence fashion, though, she’s been far less glamorous while performing her duties in promoting the fragrance, as showcased in a new interview with InStyle, which starts off with her proclaiming that she “love[s] dressing up and wearing uncomfortable shoes and getting blisters” and summing up her personal style as a “’90s sex worker who’s just won her case in court.”
After reminiscing about growing up with her brothers calling her “butt-ugly” and her initial experimentations with makeup, which included shimmery teal eye shadow and “the raccoon look,” the 28-year-old actress got equally candid when it came to topics like her diet: “If you are 20 pounds underweight and talk about eating pizza and fried chicken all the time, that’s not going to make people feel good about themselves. If I’m going to the Oscars or having a movie premiere—I won’t lie—I’m probably eating differently from how I would in my regular life to fit into those dresses. And I feel comfortable saying that,” she said, adding, “I just like it when everyone’s honest.”
Lawrence continued her honesty streak when it came to talking social media, which she’s notably been one of the few 20-something A-listers to abstain from. As it turns out, though, while she may not have a verified account with millions of followers, Lawrence assured InStyle that she is indeed on Instagram. “I’m on it. But I’m a voyeur: I watch. I don’t speak,” she said. “There is always so much backlash. So many people are listening and paying attention, and they have so many opinions about absolutely everything.”
It definitely doesn’t sound like she’ll change her mind about going public soon: “I really don’t want to welcome that unless it’s absolutely necessary. I don’t want to put myself out there for no reason. Unless I’m promoting something or something really burns my onions, you won’t hear from me,” she continued. Best of luck finding and following her finsta, which, knowing Lawrence, probably has a handle referencing the Kardashians, her BFF Emma Stone, or her one true love: pizza.
