Jennifer Lawrence Says She “Was Sobbing” Throughout Amy Schumer’s Wedding
At any wedding, you can expect to find a certain cast of characters: the uncle who visits the open bar a few too many times, the random acquaintance who grabs the mic to make a speech, and, like Jennifer Lawrence at Amy Schumer’s surprise wedding earlier this week, a whole army of friends and family members who just can’t stop crying at the ceremony. On Thursday, two days after Schumer tied the knot with chef Chris Fischer in a low-key ceremony in Malibu, California, Lawrence talked to Entertainment Tonight about her friend’s tearjerking wedding ceremony.
“It was beautiful,” J.Law said. “It was very sudden, but it was…I was sobbing the whole — his vows were stunning. It’s when two people really love each other and they really mean it, it shows, and it was a beautiful ceremony and an amazing time. I couldn’t be happier for them.” At the beachside wedding, Lawrence wore a sleeveless pink Philosophy dress with a high collar and black belt—recycled from her December 2017 appearance at The Hollywood Reporter‘s annual Power 100 breakfast—which she paired with a few necklaces and a low bun. “Notice my shirt was accidentally undone the whole time,” the Oscar winner joked to ET. “In every wedding photo, all of my buttons were undone. It looks like I was like, ‘Oh, you thought this was going to be about you?'”
After several outlets reported that Schumer earlier this week had quietly married her boyfriend of just a few months, the comedian took to Instagram on Wednesday to confirm the news, posting tons of photos from Tuesday’s ceremony and reception throughout the day, including several of her and Lawrence. In one photo, Lawrence kisses Schumer on the head while they pose together in front of the ocean. In others, the duo, who are currently writing a film together, hit the dance floor, drinks in hand, and pose alongside other celebrity guests at the wedding like Chelsea Handler and Cazzie David. Jake Gyllenhaal, Jennifer Aniston, Judd Apatow, and Larry David were also in attendance.
