In addition to Jean Prouvé and Gio Ponti–inspired displays of colorful raw-gemstonecreations, the first retail outpost by Irene Neuwirth, opening this month in Los Angeles,has an open kitchen with a table for 10.“I’m hoping to cook there, ” says the jewelry designer, who constantly entertains at home.Meal or no meal, visitors are in for a visualfeast: The boutique will stock primarily exclusivepieces, including a new pearl collection and hand-painted pendants. And the decor, courtesy of thedesign firm Commune, features peacock topiaries,Moroccan rugs, a wooden mule, and a horse painting from the Tony Duquette estate. “We want people tofeel completely comfortable hanging out all day,”Neuwirth says. “Even if they don’t walk out with somejewelry.”
