While natural, barely there makeup continues to be a mainstay on the runway, Huda Kattan could care less. Her signature style consists of dramatic, bold lips, perfect brows, and the art of “baking”–and it seems to be working out just fine. Last month, Kattan was named number 37 on Forbes‘ ‘America’s Richest Self-Made Women,’ placing her ten spots behind Kylie Jenner and a whopping 17 ahead of Kim Kardashian West, all thanks to her cult favorite beauty line, 26.6 million Instagram followers, and a reality TV series—”Huda Boss,” which aired its season finale last night. Here, the beauty mogul breaks down her favorite trends in beauty, and explains how to get the perfect lips and contour.

What beauty trend should everyone be tuned into now?

I am obsessed with trends, but right now I love that there is a lot of experimentation with bright, bold colors. It can be intimidating to try brighter colors but I often find that the colors I was most nervous about trying have actually become staples in my makeup bag. I love seeing people being more daring with their makeup.

What beauty trend do you think is on the way out?

Makeup and beauty is essentially art so I really can’t say that I dislike any trend. I love seeing innovation and creativity. It feeds my soul! Even if it’s a new trend that I wouldn’t necessarily wear myself, it might inspire me or someone to create something else that is more wearable for everyone!

What three products should women use every morning?

When I get out of the shower, I use a Caudalie body cream{: rel=”nofollow”} all over my body and then finish with the Caudalie Divine Oil—it really makes the skin so smooth and even! I also swear by eye creams in the morning – love the Anne Semonin Super Active Contour Serum as it really lifts the eyes. Finally, a good face cream is so important to lock in moisture. I am a huge fan of SkinCeuticals Skin Firming Cream{: rel=”nofollow”} – I have been using this for years now!

Do you think there has been a returned to glamorous, intricate beauty looks, compared to more natural ones? Which do you prefer?

It feels like there has been a shift toward a more natural look, but I think it depends where you are in the world. In Europe, for example, women love looking natural, understated, and effortless whereas women in the Middle East are a lot more dramatic with their makeup. I am Middle Eastern so it’s pretty much in my DNA to prefer the glamorous, over-the-top look! I love a full face of contour, lashes, lip liner–everything!

What is your go-to look for a night out?

Long-lasting makeup is all in the setting! I always bake in areas where I am prone to shininess and I find it really helps for keeping my skin looking great all evening. I usually add a little texture on the lids with the metal eyeshadows from our Rose Gold Remastered palette{: rel=”nofollow”}, then I add a pair of lashes (my favourite are Farah!) and then I usually change my lip color to something a bit darker and sexier.

What beauty product do you think is most underrated?

I definitely think that lip liners are underrated because they really help balance the face. I don’t know why they’re so underrated because just like eyebrows, they create harmony in the face.

What beauty product is most overrated?

The pulsating lip plumping gadgets that enlarge the lips temporarily. The effects are short lived and they can also cause wrinkles around the lips, so I am not sold on this. Instead, I use a lip contour pencil to line my lips and fill in with a lighter shade of Liquid Matte to give the illusion of fuller lips.

What is your latest beauty obsession?

Double-cleansing is super important to me–I always do this! It obviously takes a bit longer every evening when I am removing my makeup but it has literally changed my skin since I started doing it.

What is your personal daily beauty routine?

I am super diligent with my skincare regime because I have pretty dry but acne-prone skin. My beauty routine is super quick–I splash my face with water in the morning, apply some rose oil, and then the Skin Ceuticals C E Freulic serum or Skin Firming Cream. Then, I apply a little bronzer all over my face. I love the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer{: rel=”nofollow”}, mainly because it’s such a stunning color. I then use the shades Henna & Sandalwood from our Rose Gold Remastered palette and apply them all over the lid. I create my wing liner using the Kat Von D Ink Liner. This liner is super black and I love the felt tip, which makes application a lot easier. Our Huda Beauty Faux Mink Lashes in Farah{: rel=”nofollow”} are my ultimate favorite, so these are also part of my beauty routine. Brows are very important to me, and I really love Benefits Ka-Brow! I fill my brows in a little bit and create a quick shape using this product. And last but not least – our Huda Beauty Lip Contour in Trendsetter. I love our Lip Contours because they are so long lasting and they feel super comfortable on the lips.

What is the trick for an everyday contour look?

I think it’s just about being light-handed with your contour, so there’s enough to show off your cheekbones, but it’s not obvious. Benefit has a light Hoola shade, which is perfect for fair to medium tones, while the original Hoola will work really nicely on olive and deeper complexions.

What is one beauty look or trick that every woman should learn to master, and how can they achieve it?

Baking is literally life changing! We just came out with our Easy Bake powders and it’s all about making ‘baking’ as simple as possible! Packing some powder under the eyes, on the T-zone, on the corners of the mouth and smile lines will give the most flawless look. It also helps keep the makeup from creasing and smudging–which is hugely important for me living in Dubai where it is super hot and humid!
