Cindy Crawford Helped Throw George Clooney a Surprise Birthday Party
Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber flew from L.A. to London a few days before the celebration to help get everything in place for the big day.
In between carrying twins and keeping up a career as an international human rights lawyer, Amal Clooney found time to exercise her party planning skills.
Husband George Clooney turned 56 over the weekend, so Amal put together a surprise shindig in his honor at the couple’s London home, E! News reports. Of course, the fellow surprisers were other A-listers.
Amal had a bit of help with the planning process: Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber flew from L.A. to London a few days before the celebration to help get everything in place for the big day.
Celebrities are pretty apt at keeping secrets, so there’s no surprise everyone was able to keep things hush-hush leading up to the reveal. On Saturday, when Clooney pulled into his driveway, Gerber surprised him by coming through the bushes on a rideable lawnmower and pulling up beside his car, while Crawford was nearby in the garden cutting flowers. “George was totally surprised!” a sourced told E!, which, well, yes, that was the point.
The rest of the celebration was filled with family and close friends. Amal invited everyone to dinner to eat and drink Casamigos, the premium tequila brand that Clooney and Gerber started together in 2013. Since Gerber celebrated his own 55th birthday a week before Clooney’s 56th, the big surprise also doubled as something of a joint party. The pièce de résistance of the entire event was a cake made to look like the Casamigos Tequila bars from their houses in Mexico, complete with confectionery versions of the two founders.
The festivities continued into the weekend, when Clooney, Crawford, and Gerber took a cruise down the river Thames. “We can always count on him for a photobomb,” Crawford captioned a photo of the trio on Instagram.
This marks Clooney’s last big birthday bash before he becomes a dad. The couple are awaiting the arrival of twins, who could be coming “any day now,” according to E! News.
Safe to say, the babies’ first birthday party will be one for the books.
