There’s more to Fifties retro than poodle skirts and bobby socks, and this season designers are looking at the era’s refined side. Jason Wu, for one, went American debutante with pouf-skirted gowns, while at Dolce & Gabbana, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana set their sights on the decade’s sexy sirens, La Dolce Vita–style. As for the posh accoutrements, supremely ladylike pearls, gloves, frame bags and cool-cat glasses top them all off.
