Long considered aristocratic, sentimental, and romantic, cameos have never been seen as cool. Until now. “Everybody’s suddenly crazy for them,” says Amedeo Scognamiglio, who opened a New York boutique dedicated to cameos four years ago and can barely keep up with demand. Bottega Veneta has also caught on to the trend, and is introducing its first cameo collection for spring, while jeweler Fred Leighton and antiques specialist James Robinson boast their own vintage motifs. But perhaps the best option of all is to go straight to the source: your grandmother’s jewelry box.
