Pump Up the Volume
When designers and fashion stylists want big hair for their shoots and shows, Jimmy Paul is the man they call. “I’m always looking for ways to make hair bigger,” says Paul. “And I’m always trying to adapt my pro tricks for real life.”
To that end, he has been working with the lab coats at Bumble and bumble, where he’s been an editorial stylist since 2002. The payoff: the new Bb Thickening Full Form Mousse, which contains polymers that plump up strands; and Thickening Creme Contour, which adds dimension and shine. The products join Bumble and bumble’s Thickening Spray, a best-seller, and in July the collection will be rounded out with Dryspun Finish, a spritz that re-poofs day-old styles. Paul used all four to create this wild mane but says that you can achieve a similar effect with just the mousse. “Finger-comb a dollop into damp hair, bend over, and scrunch it to coax some waves, then let it air-dry,” he instructs.
