Beyoncé is the queen of surprises. Despite being one of the most famous women in the world, she has managed to drop an entire album without warning on her unsuspecting fans. Over the weekend, the singer did it again, while attending an Alvin Ailey dance performance in Los Angeles along with daughter Blue Ivy, mother Tina Lawson, and Tina’s Angels, the group of young women Lawson mentors. After the show, Beyoncé surprised the dance company with a backstage visit.

“Beyoncé came to the matinee performance with her daughter Blue Ivy and mother Tina!” wrote Alvin Ailey on Instagram, alongside a photo of Beyoncé, Lawson, and Tina’s Angels posing with the dance company. “They met with the dancers afterwards and we had a Q&A with Tina’s Angels. They are all so sweet and supportive of the Ailey company. So much talent in one photograph!”

Lawson shared a video on Instagram of Beyoncé surprising the dancers with a backstage visit. One performer even screamed “Beyoncé!” and fell to his knees upon first laying eyes upon the singer. (Who can blame him?) Of course, Queen Bey graciously complimented the company on a beautiful performance, shaking hands with everyone and no doubt making all of their days.

Lawson also shared a few photos of the afternoon. “Backstage after the Alvin Ailey dancers’ performance,” the proud mother captioned a photo of herself, Beyoncé, and Tina’s Angels. “With my beautiful Tina’s Angels and with a few of the mentors. My very gracious daughter who met the girls and spent some time with them and made their day!”

Beyoncé, who announced she was pregnant with twins on Feb. 1, has kept her public appearances to a minimum since sharing the happy news. Her bump made its public debut at the 2017 Grammy Awards, where the singer opted to perform two of her slower songs — “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles.” Beyoncé and husband Jay Z also made headlines when they rolled through Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s pre-Oscars bash, and the entire Carter-Knowles family recently attended the Los Angeles premiere of Beauty and the Beast, in matching Gucci ensembles, no less.
