Bernardaud Artist-Created Dinnerware
Jeff Koons’s 1988 “Banality” series was the height of kitsch, with its knick-knacky porcelain sculptures of Michael Jackson and Bubbles, the Pink Panther, and two young angels shepherding a pig with the help of a boy in a tracksuit. Now Koons brings these images to dine in a series of plates, cups and saucers, a collaboration with Bernardaud celebrating the French porcelain company’s 150th anniversary. Like the originals, they are as kitsch as they are sublime.
