Window Dressing
From its tony perch on Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman has fueled the whims of the most stylish women in the world for more than a century. Grace Kelly ordered her invitations from the store for her wedding to Prince Rainier III, and Jackie O took lunch in its fitting rooms to avoid being gawked at in the restaurant. So if the department store is pulling out all the stops this month to celebrate its 111th anniversary—an unusual milestone, to be sure—who’s going to argue? Certainly not the untold celebrities, socialites, and employees who contributed to Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf Goodman (Harper Design), an anthology of witty recollections, out now. There’s also a documentary, directed by Matthew Miele, and an exclusive anniversary collection with contributions from 100 designers. Among the highlights: a Tom Ford doctor’s bag in lavender alligator—a very chic nod to Bergdorf’s classic purple shopping bag.
