Sometimes it really is that easy: The three brothers comprising the Adelaide, Australia alt-pop band Atlas Genius weren’t particularly hell-bent on signing themselves up with a label and a distribution deal; they just wanted to get their music out there. But a few weeks after putting their first finished song, “Trojans,” for sale online, they finally checked their email inbox—only to find it filled with missives from record labels, management and booking companies, publishers and lawyers.
A few months later, after a whirlwind of meetings in LA, they signed with Warner Bros., and a few months after that their debut EP, Through The Glass—three shimmering gems that suggest some admixture of The Killers, Cults, and Coldplay—was released. They’re putting final touches on their debut full-length, which will be out early this fall; meanwhile they’re out on tour shortly with Silversun Pickups and on their own as we;;. You’ll no doubt be hearing a lot of them before you know it, but with pop this infectious it’s always good to be among the first responders when a glorious new strain emerges.
