Amy Schumer Calls Jennifer Lawrence Her ‘Sister’ in Instagram Post
If you had any doubt that Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence‘s once highly profiled friendship was losing traction, Schumer’s latest Instagram clears things up. Sunday night, the comedian Instagrammed a photo of herself posing with Lawrence, as well as actor Woody Harrelson (who starred alongside Lawrence in The Hunger Games films), on a balcony, captioning it, “Sisters.” Harrelson shared a similar shot, with the caption, “Gals i luv.” (Harrelson is also something of Hollywood’s most prolific friendship matchmaker, responsible for bringing together Lawrence, Emma Stone, and Brie Larson.)
It’s ambiguous what brought the trio together on the balcony, but Monday morning, Schumer and Harrelson both posted photos of them sharing a stage the night before at the Comedy Cellar in Manhattan. “Magic,” she captioned the shot, and Harrelson confirmed when and where the photo was taken.
It’s most likely that Schumer’s caption “sisters” is in reference to the movie the actresses cowrote and plan to costar in—as a pair of sisters. “We’re almost done writing,” Lawrence told the New York Times in August 2015 about the screenplay. “It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.” The duo first became friends after Lawrence saw Schumer’s film Trainwreck. “I emailed her after I saw Trainwreck and said, ‘I don’t know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I’m in love with you,'” Lawerence told the Times at the time. “We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting.”
And ever since then, gossip blogs have consistently spread rumors that Schumer and Lawrence weren’t friends anymore. “My brother asked me the other day, ‘Everybody online thinks you and Amy [Schumer] aren’t friends anymore,'” she previously told Vanity Fair. “And I said, ‘Oh, really, because everything online is always true.'” Vanity Fair added that Lawrence and Schumer were still friends with plans to make their movie “once their schedules relax.” The gals look pretty relaxed in Schumer’s photo, so here’s hoping the movie goes into production sometime soon.
