Uptown, Downtown
Normally one of the hallmarks of the fall charity circuit, the Whitney Museum of American Art’s annual gala and studio party had the misfortune be slotted for October 30th earlier this year, aka, deep in the heart of Sandy destruction. Needless to say, the party went on—just a few weeks later. Switching from its original location at Hudson River Park’s Pier 57, the gala came together last night at the museum’s uptown location, with an evening sponsored by Microsoft and Pamella Roland that raised more than $2.7 million for the institution, though a portion went to the New York Foundation for the Arts Emergency Relief Fund. And after heavy-weight collectors and sponsors like co-chairs Amy Phelan and Lizzie Tisch were finished honoring philanthropist Sondra Gilman Gonzalez-Falla over dinner, a younger crew rolled in to continue the fun at the Studio Party, where Nate Lowman with Sennennes acted as Djs.
