Chanel’s Women

Patricia Clarkson, Katie Holmes and Olivia Wilde

Ladies who lunch got a new twist Monday afternoon when a stream of powerful women from the entertainment industry flocked to Locanda Verde restaurant in New York for, yes, a lunch hosted by Tribeca Enterprises CEO Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca Enterprises Executive VP Paula Weinstein and Chanel Global CEO Maureen Chiquet. The occasion was not witty gossip exchange, but rather the inauguration of the upcoming, newly announced three-day workshop Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Project. A collaboration between Tribeca Enterprises, Chanel, Pulse Films and the Tribeca Film Institute, the program will provide seven up and coming female filmmakers with master classes, mentorship, peer feedback and other support, with one lucky recipient going on to win $75,000 for the development of their project.

Naturally, the best way to toast such an important—and much-needed—endeavor was to fill the room with all manner of X chromosome talent. And so there was actress and juror of the project Patricia Clarkson hobnobbing with Olivia Wilde and Katie Holmes. Jemima Kirke, Mickey Sumner and Eve Hewson waved the flag for the newer generation, while Meg Ryan and Christine Baranski lent their veteran spirit.
