Simone Rocha Fall 2020 Was Fit For the Most Daring of Brides

by W Staff

You can always count on Simone Rocha to deliver at London Fashion Week. She rolled out her latest ethereal collection in a sumptuous hall at Lancaster House on Saturday, and at first glance, it appeared a bit more subdued than usual; the first round of looks stuck almost entirely to a white and ivory color palette. But upon closer inspection, each incorporated layers upon layers of Aran knits, silks, linens, tuxedo-like detailing, bows, furs, silks, pearls, and embroidered tulles. While by far the most elaborate, Rocha didn’t skimp on the details when transitioning to blacks and deep royal blues, either. The beauty alone made those looks just as elaborate, with leaves of red and black foil serving as eyeshadow and tangles of fishtail braids topping off models’ heads. Many wore chandelier earrings, though only a lucky few toted Rocha’s newfound signature: a dainty handbag made out of a giant, hollowed-out pearl.
