Check Mate: Plaid Is Fall 2017’s Must-Have Print

by Caroline Grosso

Checks, plaids, and even ginghams made an appearance on New York Fashion Week runways. Perhaps the most awe-inspiring plaid was that shown by Raf Simons at Calvin Klein–a grey plaid was covered in clear plastic, in homage to the suburban plastic couch covers of yore. With oversized and slouchy suiting is poised to become a huge trend, (as it was championed by Celine and Balenciaga last season), the boxy shoulders on a Tibi plaid jacket looked of-the-moment. Up-and-coming label Brock Collection, a favorite among fashion insiders, even opted for a gingham for fall – done in a charming brick red, it made complete sense as a transitional piece that girls will lust after come August. Still other designers–like Tory Burch–thought one check was not enough, and chose plaid fabrics for suit jackets and handbags. Click through for the best pieces you’ll be wearing come fall.
