8 Fashion Designers Inspired By Their Own Hairstyles

Diane Von Furstenberg

Backstage at Diane Von Furstenberg‘s Fall 2016 show, hairstylist Orlando Pita explained the beauty look. “We’re keep keeping each girl individual, but everything has a nod to the ‘70s,” he said. The inspiration? DVF herself.

Von Furstenbeg isn’t the only designer serving double duty as muse from the Fall 2016 shows. Hairstylist Guido Palau echoed the same sentiment backstage at Tory Burch. “It’s easy, easy hair, not too uptight,” he said of the clean hair set in a low knot on all of the models – a look Burch often sports at events. Hairstylist Paul Hanlon agreed, explaining how he developed the long, straight center-parted hair at Vera Wang’s Fall 2016 show. “When you work with a designer? Look at the designer’s hair. That’s always a good reference.”
