13 New York-based fashion designers share what made 2015 special for them, and talk about their resolutions for the upcoming year.

1

Anna Sui

“My New Year’s resolution is to clean my office. And this year I am thankful for the Elizabeth Taylor kaftan that I won at an auction.”

2

Adam Lippes

“I’m very thankful for being able to spend my days doing something I love. That’s a real gift. I try to make my new years resolution something specific — not overarching. This year, I want to build a brick wall. I planted an orchard last year and this year going to figure out how to build a brick wall to go around it. Wish me luck!”

3

Tanya Taylor

“My resolution for 2016 is to be more active than ever… and to find the time to hang from more trees!”

4

Timo Weiland

“My resolution is to be more present and live in the moment. I am so thankful for my partner, Jeff Petriello—he centers me.”

5

“This year I am thankful for my incredible friends and family, my team, and Instagram!”

6

Brandon Maxwell

“This year has been such a whirlwind with the launch of my brand and I feel very content with how 2015 turned out! My number one New Year’s resolution is to cook more and take a little more time for myself. There are too many things for me to be thankful for, but one thing for sure would be the unwavering support I have received from my friends, family, and peers. I don’t think 2015 would have had the same ending without it!”

7

Figue’s Stephanie von Watzdorf

“I am so thankful to do what I am passionate about every day and to be able to give back. I do not focus on New Years Resolutions, instead I stop and think about things I would like to focus on more: sharing more love, giving more, creating synergy, appreciating all the good, thinking globally, and bringing people together.”

8

Mara Hoffman

“I am thankful for my family, my health and for every moment that I am alive. I am thankful for the crazy and blessed life that I have. My New Year’s resolution is to spend more time in aligning myself with what makes me truly happy, to be the truest version of myself and to focus on positivity and love in all situations.”

9

RHIÉ’s Rie Yamagata

“My New Year’s resolution is to get a puppy and to make my home & office more green and environmentally friendly. I am grateful for my family, friends and the people I work with who all work so hard towards a successful collection.”

10

Tome’s Ramon Martin & Ryan Lobo

“Our resolution is to travel more. It is the most inspiring thing you can do, and frustratingly, it’s the first thing we give up when we get busy. So more vacations in 2016!”

Ryan Lobo “That said, I am always thankful for an upgrade on a flight Ramon Martin “And I’m always grateful to be home after a long trip

Baja East

John Targon: “My resolution is to live in the present. Sometimes I get so caught up in capturing the moment, that I forget to actually enjoy it and soak it up with all of my senses. And I am very thankful for Broad City, The Affair, VEEP, and Homeland.”

Scott Studenberg: My New Year’s resolution is to get in the best shape of my life. Now that I am 33 it takes a bit more diligence and I want to find the time no matter how busy we are running a new brand. I am thankful for all of our retailers like Maxfield, A’Maree’s, Ikram and Forward by Elyse Walker who have supported and grown Baja East in their stores. There are more than 35 global stores and every day I am thankful for them and their teams that buy and sell our brand.
