Art Meets Technology at the Guggenheim’s New Exhibit
Hungarian painter, photographer, and Bauhaus educator László Moholy-Nagy believed back in the early 19oo’s that art and technology should go hand in hand. Seventy years after his death, the Guggenheim will open a retrospective of his constructivist work on Friday, and appropriately invited a group of Instagram influencers to preview the show this morning. Francesca Lavazza, a member of the museum’s board, was also present. “I am excited by the opportunity that social media and Instgramers present to modern day art,” she said of the idea of ‘Insta meets‘ such as this one. “It’s great to collaborate with people who are passionate about art, who can share, promote and encourage a wider audience to appreciate it.” The question remains, however: would Bauhaus approve of art selfies?
