The Next Generation of Grunge Models

by Emilia Petrarca

Katie Moore and Mia Rae

With the return of ’90s fashion also comes a ’90s attitude, which models Hari Nef, Lotta Volkova, and Diego Villarreal embody with their grunge style. The look made it’s mainstream debut in 1992 with Marc Jacobs‘ controversial show for Perry Ellis, which featured plenty of plaid, cropped haircuts, and chokers — all of which are on trend again today. “America wasn’t ready,” said W‘s Fashion Director Edward Enninful of the show, but perhaps now we are with the help of designers like Alexander Wang and Demna Gvasalia. Here, their grunge model muses.
