Glenn Close’s Dinner With Friends
Glenn Close was the guest of honor Tuesday night when Ingrid Sischy and Sandra Brant hosted a screening, sponsored by Giorgio Armani, of her buzzed about holiday film Albert Nobbs. In the movie, which Close also produced and co-wrote, the Oscar-winning actress plays a woman who’s spent her entire life passing as a man in famine-stricken 19th century Ireland. As a longtime butler (the titular Albert Nobbs) at a prestigious hotel, she has a chance encounter with a carpenter (Janet McTeer) whose sense of liberty causes her to see for the first time the prison she has erected for herself.
Post-screening, Close was joined by director Rodrigo Garcia and co-star Mia Wasikowska at a private dinner at Armani Ristorante, where guests like Patti Smith, Viola Davis, and Courtney Love table-hopped and a barefoot Sinead O’Connor (who wrote the film’s title score) gave a surprise performance.
