Going Overboard

“Dolce & Gabbana staged its Alta Moda couture presentation at the Fontelina beach club, on the island of Capri. The only way to get to it was by gozzo, the old-fashioned fishing boats that are still used there. I chose to wear a vintage Pauline Trigère bra and evening pajamas so I would be supercomfortable on the trip. The choppy waters and strong winds made for a very dramatic entrance to the show!”

“The Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda collection had a print theme. This particular gown, inspired by the colorful tiles in Capri, was completely hand-painted. When combined with the crown, it makes the model look like Italian royalty. She should be the queen of Capri!”

“There’s a chic store on New York’s Upper East Side called Creel and Gow. It’s like an interior-decorating cabinet of curiosities. I particularly like this peacock. I love birds, and with its plumage, the peacock is definitely the best dressed bird of all!”

“Tennis is my new thing, and when I was in Milan, I got to play with my sister at Tennis Club Milano, one of the oldest tennis clubs in Italy. I wore Nike sneakers with a cute dress I borrowed from her. Obviously, part of the reason I love the sport is because of all the opportunities for great outfits.”

“I was in Ibiza on vacation and wanted to throw a house party. While shopping for supplies, I saw these fake parking signs for sale. How funny are they? Normally, they say things like only authorized vehicles. I couldn’t wait to see how many of our guests would be brave—or honest—enough to park in the plastic surgery section…”

“Santiago Gonzalez, who works with his mother on the handbag brand Nancy Gonzalez, had his birthday party at Queen of the Night at the Diamond Horseshoe in New York. Allison Sarofim showed up looking like the Marchesa Casati.”

“While in Aspen to celebrate the Chanel pop-up boutique, I went horseback riding. I felt like I was in a Spaghetti Western. I couldn’t wait to show my family in Italy the photos and say, ‘I’m a real American now: horseback riding in Colorado!’ ”
