Brigitte Lacombe’s Candid Camera
Over her 40-year career, photographer Brigitte Lacombe has captured some of film’s most famous faces, but it’s her ability to strip away the pretense of celebrity that has made her a legend in her own right. In Complicities, on view at Phillips through July 30, her portraits spin an alternate Hollywood story, where untouchable figures like Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese are recast as charmingly human. Here, some of the highlights.
