Inside the Best New York City Holiday Windows 2017 and Their Opening Nights
In New York City, there is perhaps no bigger indication that the holiday season has arrived than festive, sparkly department store window displays to captivate shoppers and tourists alike. These days, it’s not just about the windows themselves, however, but the parties that kick them off for their official debut. This year, Bloomingdale’s enlisted Zendaya to help show off the store’s windows inspired by her new film The Greatest Showman, which feature over 7.6 million Swarovski crystals in the store’s flagship store. Meanwhile, Saks Fifth Avenue brought out Naomi Watts and Neil Patrick Harris for their Disney-inspired display, and Barneys New York hosted a casual supper party with the fashion set for their collaboration with the artists Simon and Nikolai Haas of The Haas Brothers. Meanwhile, Bergdorf Goodman, thought of as the gold standard of holiday windows, went philanthropic, partnering with seven local institutions, including the American Museum of Natural History, the New York Botanical Garden, the New York Philharmonic, the Brooklyn non-profit UrbanGlass, to pay tribute to a beloved New York tradition.
