Australia’s Byron Bay Is the New Hot Spot for Surf and Hemsworth Spotting

by Katherine Cusumano

The Hemsworth triumvirate—Luke, Chris, and Liam—were born in Melbourne, Australia, but lately, they’ve adopted the coastal New South Wales city of Byron Bay as their hometown. With its strong surf community and music festivals Bluesfest, an anti-Coachella, and Falls Festival, it’s a less-traveled getaway for celebrities looking for something slightly off the usual Sydney-Gold Coast route. Margot Robbie is rumored to have married fiancé Tom Ackerley in Byron Bay; model Gemma Ward owns a house there; and Miley Cyrus and Matt Damon have both been spotted on its sandy shores. See why models, actors, and musicians are all flocking to the newest getaway down under, here.
