How The Youth Took Over The 2018 Sundance Film Festival
Every January, the Sundance Film Festival marks the celebration of groundbreaking independent storytelling, with feature films competing for prizes and distributors. This year, the festival showcased some of the most highly anticipated films that are sure to be the critical darlings of 2018—and it seems that one of the takeaways from this year’s lineup is that Sundance is obsessed with youth culture, from John Legend’s adaptation of the young adult novel Monster to director Desiree Akhavan’s The Miseducation of Cameron Post, a film about queer youth being forced into conversion therapy and starring Sasha Lane and Chloë Grace Moretz. The burgeoning screen stars Hari Nef and Maude Apatow also joined the crew of young talent on the rise at the biggest film festival in Park City, Utah, to promote their teen thriller Assassination Nation, along with Maia Mitchell and Lovie Simone.
