Hedi Slimane muses on his latest collection as a “utopian parade and melancholic daydream of youth interrupted.” Woven into this are clear references to its Gen Z-charged spring 2021 predecessor, but to showcase fall, he transported us from sunny Monaco to the 17th century Château de Vaux le Vicomte. Inspired by French poetry, the ready-to-wear looks capture the drama and wilderness central to the teenage experience, balanced by an effortlessly matured Parisian attitude.
The collection – titled “Parade”, referencing Arthur Rimbaud’s Parade (“I alone have the key to this savage parade”) – pays homage to Celine’s perennially chic house codes imbued with Slimane’s punk sensibility.
