Concrete Jungle

On Wednesday evening, a stylish crowd including Rooney Mara, Brooke Shields, Chloe Sevigny, and Neville Wakefield filled New York’s Skylight Clarkson Square to celebrate the 100th birthday of La Panthère de Cartier, the luxury house’s mascot. The bare space was transformed into a jungle, where It girls roamed free: Chiara Ferragni admired archaeological artifacts in shadow box displays in one room, a group of LBD-clad women perused Cartier jewels while discussing their charity projects in another, and gentlemen in black eye masks served quail eggs with caviar from elaborate trays in a third. DJ Hannah Bronfman and friends lounged on emerald velvet couches and danced in a fourth room, sipping on champagne. “The jewels speak for themselves,” said Bronfman, who was dressed in a pale blue bodysuit and skirt by Jonathan Cohen for the evening. “I remember for my Bat Mitzvah wanting a Love bracelet and I wasn’t allowed to have one. But guess who did get one? My 14-year-old sister!” After an upbeat set by Mimi Xu, Karen O took to the DJ decks, playing everything from Frankie Valli to Jay Z. “Karen is killing it,” said model and face of Cartier’s La Panthère fragrance, Erin Wasson. As the evening wound down, guests exited the jungle of luxury in favor of the concrete version outside, prompting one partygoer to somberly state, “I think it’s time for another vacation.”
