Millie Bobby Brown and Dakota Fanning Had a Mutual Fangirling Moment at the 2018 SAG Awards
Millie Bobby Brown and Dakota Fanning have both played some dark characters on-screen (Brown, a psychokinetic killer, Fanning, a cult-joining domestic terrorist). But their red-carpet encounter was anything but. On Sunday, the two actresses stumbled upon each other on the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Award red carpet, resulting in a moment that can best be described as mutual fangirling. Brown and Fanning exchanged a look of pure joy before sharing a hug that will no doubt spawn countless captions on social media.
Fanning was one of the all-female presenters who will take the stage during the SAG Awards to announce the winners. Traditionally, each award is presented by a man and a woman, but this year’s awards committee decided to break with tradition and feature exclusively women presenters in light of the post-Weinstein climate. Brown, meanwhile, has received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her performance as Eleven in season two of Stranger Things, along with Elisabeth Moss in The Handmaid’s Tale, Robin Wright in House of Cards, Laura Linney in Ozark, and winner Claire Foy in The Crown.
Earlier in the night, Brown talked with E! about fangirling over another famous face: Drake. “Drake’s my man,” she said. “I love Drake! He is amazing.” The duo met when the rapper invited her to his show. “This moment was amazing,” she said. “I was in his dressing room with my whole family…I was like, ‘Just want to say hi.’ He was like, ‘Oh, my god.’ He was having a fanboy moment; I was having a fangirl moment and a Drake moment.”
