Gloriously Over the Top Scenes from New York’s Gay Pride Parade
Gay pride parades are exuberant displays of color and personality, but following the tragedy in Orlando, this year’s celebration was bound to be fraught with emotion. It was also the one-year anniversary, to the day, of the decision that expanded same-sex marriage across the country. Marchers took it all in stride, in outfits that were bold, over the top, inappropriate, but all gloriously proud. (Even Hillary Clinton made an appearance, in teal no less.) It was a jovial reminder that having fun is a political act too.
