Soo Joo Park Stands Out at Michael Kors’s Star-Studded Smart Watch Party
Michael Kors won’t show his eponymous Spring 2017 collection till Wednesday morning, but he has nevertheless been quite present this fashion week. He unveiled a line of smart watches — by Android, essentially Apple watch lite — in collaboration with Fossil at a party that took over his shop Sunday evening, and fashion personalities like model Martha Hunt and actress Zendaya (the stars of Kors’s wearable tech video), Nina Agdal, and Soo Joo Park (the stars of his Fall 2016 campaign) turned out for the occasion. (“This is a strange vacation for me,” Kors told W during the party — fashion’s version of a staycation.) All wore Michael Kors, naturally, but each also made it her own: Hunt, in a gold leather trench with a black leather slip dress underneath; Agdal, in a sleeveless crocodile dress; Zendaya in a nautical, polka dot and striped ensemble; and, of course, Park, bringing her natural edge to a sleek black look by Kors.
Who: Soo Joo Park.
When: Sunday, September 11.
Where: The Michael Kors wearable tech event at Kors’s Soho store in New York, New York.
What: A black tank, black scarf-slash-choker, black sequined pants, a black shoulder bag with a large button embellishment on its flap, and — of course — a smart watch, all by Michael Kors.
Why: This is the new Michael Kors: Park starred in Kors’s mock-street style Fall 2016 campaign alongside Solange Knowles, and now the Korean model and Karl Lagerfeld favorite (a wholly different kind of designer than Michael Kors) has dropped back into Kors’s orbit for this event. Like the campaign she stars in, her edgy all-black ensemble hints at a new chapter for Michael Kors, a little bolder and weirder. Plus, Park told us back in June that she only just started working out — so hopefully that Kors smart watch will come in handy.
